Arbitration is a form of alternate dispute resolution that focuses on resolving disputes out of court.

Pacific Solutions is very pleased to have been able to assist several established law firms in arbitration matters, with court reporters attending hearings over a number of days.  

This month we have had the pleasure of working with DLA Phillips Fox, McCullough Robertson, as well as a number of others, across a wide range of matters, and we look forward to assisting with more arbitration in the future.

Pacific Solutions is a fully-licensed user of NVivo 8. Pacific Solutions typists have undergone an NVivo training program, and are now able to provide fully-NVivo compatible transcripts of any audio or audio-visual source that you need to analyse. 

This means that once we have sent you the transcript, you can simply import it straight into NVivo, saving you time you would have otherwise spent on typing or formatting. With NVivo, you are able to hear your recording or watch your video with the transcript scrolling in time - opening up a whole new way to understand your sources and analyse your findings.

Pacific Solutions are now able to provide fully compatible transcripts that synchronise with NVivo8, or, alternatively, transcripts that are compatible with earlier versions.

Pacific Solutions is currently experiencing growth in the UK market, recently taking on a number of UK clients including British Telecom and ACT Conferencing UK.  

British Telecom and ACT Conferencing UK are both teleconferencing agencies and add to a number of pre-existing clients of this kind, both Australian and international. 

We're very pleased to be working with these companies and hope to expand further in the UK transcription market in the future.

Pacific Solutions reporters attend a wide variety of hearings and meetings, many of which bear an important effect on community development. 

A fine example of this was seen in a recent edition of the Weekend Australian magazine.  Pacific Solutions Court Reporter Colleen Johnson attended a panel comprised of Senator Penny Wong, shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey, cancer researcher Ian Frazer, ANU Vice Chancellor Ian Chubb, Secretary of Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Lisa Paul, demographer Bernard Salt, former Olympic swimmer Lisa Forrest, and Australian Industry Group CEO Heather Ridout.

The panel met to discuss the question of leadership and to choose 10 winners of the Weekend Australian's Next 100, a list of up and coming individuals whose leadership in various fields charts the way for Australia's future.

The edited transcript appeared in the Weekend Australian magazine.

Clients using our website to upload audio files to their online account will be happy to hear that we are now compatible with Google Chrome.

Previously there were some compatibility issues with the new web browser that made uploading difficult.

These issues have all been overcome so you are now able to use Google Chrome as your web browser of choice when uploading audio.

The upload function is also compatible with all versions of Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

Introducing Linda Taimre: the new face of Pacific Solutions in the UK.

Linda is relatively new to the UK, having worked in our Australian office prior to travelling throughout Europe and finally settling in London about six months ago.

Pacific Solutions is able to cater for meetings that take place off-site or where digital recording is not available.

Whether a complete transcript of the meeting is required, or simply an official minute-taker, Pacific Solutions reporters are able to attend.

Our reporters are always attending meetings, tribunals, and Parliamentary hearings. Most recently we have been able to help out with Netball Queensland's AGM. Pacific Solutions will be attending that meeting as an official minute-taker.

After several months of hardware upgrades at Pacific Solutions, we are undergoing our final server upgrade in March 2009.

We've been working with international data centre specialists, Global Switch, via their Sydney branch (featured below).

Pacific Solutions works with a number of universities and research institutions in the transcription of research interviews.

This ranges from PhD students to government funded research projects.

The universities we work with include: University of Melbourne, Monash, UNSW, University of Sydney, Central Queensland University, the University of Queensland, QUT, University of Adelaide, Charles Sturt University, Edith Cowan University, Macquarie, Griffith and Flinders Univeristy.

We also regularly work with CSIRO.
